The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup arrives in Germany for the first time this season, with both women and men set for two competitions each on Klingenthal’s Large Hill (12–14 December).

Germany will field a 10-athlete squad led by Philipp Raimund and Katharina Schmid, currently the nation’s top-ranked athletes in the overall standings. Raimund, 25, enters in career-best form after finishing second and third in Wisła (POL) last weekend, putting him fourth in the early Crystal Globe race. He’s eager to compete at home, calling Klingenthal a season highlight and praising the support of local fans at Vogtland Arena.

Germany’s men’s roster for 13–14 December features Raimund, Felix Hoffmann, Pius Paschke, Luca Roth and Andreas Wellinger; Karl Geiger, a double winner in Klingenthal in 2023/24, is not selected. Domen Prevc (SLO) leads the overall standings after a Wisła double victory, while Austria’s Stefan Kraft returns to the circuit following the birth of his child.

The women open on Friday, 12 December, in only the third Klingenthal World Cup edition to include women’s events. Selina Freitag, runner-up for the 2024/25 Crystal Globe, has rebounded from a challenging start in Lillehammer to a sixth place in the first Wisła competition and aims to push for her first podium of the season. She, along with Schmid, Anna Hollandt, Agnes Reisch and Juliane Seyfarth, comprise Germany’s women’s team. Coach Heinz Kuttin expects excellent conditions and believes the group is close to podium form.

Internationally, double World Champion Nika Prevc (SLO) arrives with momentum after winning Wisła’s second event a day after a disqualification for ski-length infringement. Japan’s Nozomi Maruyama retains a sizable lead in the women’s overall standings after consistent results in Wisła.
