Seconds before a Pole’s jump, a notice appeared: Red card for Fatih Arda Ipcioglu

At the Ski Jumping World Cup in Klingenthal on Sunday, Turkey’s Fatih Arda Ipcioglu was disqualified for equipment non‑compliance related to ski length. According to officials, such DSQs often stem from weight‑to‑ski‑length proportionality issues.
Because this is Ipcioglu’s second disqualification of the season—he was previously DSQ in Lillehammer—the new FIS rule package converts two DSQs into a red card. The red card obliges the athlete to sit out the next World Cup weekend, which in this case is Engelberg.
The message about Ipcioglu’s disqualification and red card appeared on the event graphics moments before Poland’s Paweł Wąsek was set to jump. This marks the first time the red‑card sanction has been applied in the men’s World Cup. Earlier in the weekend, a red card was issued in the women’s field to Kazakhstan’s Veronika Shyshkina in Klingenthal.
The article notes that Ipcioglu had made it through qualification but had a modest first‑round performance before the DSQ for ski length was confirmed.
