Ren Nikaido upends Domen Prevc in Innsbruck on the Four Hills Tournament
The 24-year-old Japanese Ren Nikaido took his first World Cup win on the third of the Four Hills Tournament contests, held Sunday in Innsbruck, Austria. His two jumps of 131 m and 128 m were enough to lift him to the top of the podium.
Slovenian Domen Prevc, winner of the first two Tour rounds in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, finished second after missing the victory by 0.5 points — he remains close to securing the overall Tournament title but failed to complete a sweep. Austrian Stephan Embacher completed the podium, 0.7 points behind Nikaido.
Frenchman Valentin Foubert was the only French qualifier; he placed 27th in Innsbruck and sits 14th in the provisional overall standings. The Tour’s final stage will be held on Tuesday in Bischofshofen (Austria).
