World Cup in Ruka: Event stopped — Lanišek wins after one round

Severe weather conditions marred the men’s Ski Jumping World Cup event in Ruka, Finland. With gusty winds, rain and later heavy snowfall, the inrun speed became too low to ensure fair and safe jumping, and the jury halted the competition after the first round. As a result, the standings after one series determined the final result.
Anže Lanišek of Slovenia won the shortened competition. Ren Nikaido from Japan took second place, and Slovenia’s Domen Prevc completed the podium. Among the German team, Andreas Wellinger finished seventh, followed by Pius Paschke in ninth and Felix Hoffmann in eleventh.
Karl Geiger continued to search for form, placing 27th, while Philipp Raimund, recently on the podium in Falun, managed only 120 meters and ended the first round in 32nd, missing the cut. The article notes that training earlier in the week had already been interrupted and qualification was postponed to Saturday because of the weather. The decision to stop after one round came when worsening wind and snowfall made conditions unfair and unsafe.
