Swiss team legend Simon Ammann was withdrawn from the remainder of the 2025/26 Four Hills Tournament by his federation immediately after the Ga‑Pa competition. The 44‑year‑old four‑time Olympic champion failed to advance from the first round in Garmisch‑Partenkirchen after losing his head‑to‑head KO duel to 18‑year‑old Polish jumper Kacper Tomasiak. Ammann also lost his KO duel in the first series of the event earlier in the tournament and did not qualify for the second round.
Following the New Year contest the Swiss federation decided to remove both Ammann and teammate Juri Kesseli from the roster for the upcoming Austrian events in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen. They will be replaced by Felix Trunz and Killian Peier; Gregor Deschwanden and Sandro Haushwirth will also appear for Switzerland in the Austrian part of the tournament.
The Four Hills Tournament continues this week with qualification in Innsbruck, and the overall winner of the 74th edition will be decided on 6 January in Bischofshofen.
