Baby on the way for Austria’s Stefan Kraft — “If she calls, just ignore it,” he jokes

Austria’s ski jumping star Stefan Kraft has stepped away from World Cup competition briefly to be at home for the birth of his first child. Speaking on ServusTV’s “Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar‑7,” the three‑time overall World Cup champion said he “can’t wait,” while admitting the anticipation has also brought some nerves.
Kraft recounted a light‑hearted moment during the Falun World Cup, saying he told a friend after leading the first round, “If she calls now, just press it away.” He immediately clarified it was only a joke and that he would have flown home at once if his wife needed him.
He added that recent competitions came with a “queasy feeling” as he was constantly checking his phone for calls or messages that might arrive even as he’s about to come down the inrun. Kraft said both he and his wife Marisa are well, taking things day by day and full of anticipation for their baby’s arrival.
