Austrian ski jumping star Stefan Kraft continued his record chase. After setting the all-time World Cup points record, the 32-year-old revealed on ServusTV’s “Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar-7” that he wants to break two ski flying distance marks before the end of his career.

On Tuesday, Kraft established a new World Cup points record. He won the normal hill event in Falun, earning 100 points to lift his career total to 15,811, surpassing Finnish legend Janne Ahonen’s 15,758.

Kraft’s victory in Falun was also his 46th World Cup win, drawing him level with Matti Nykänen for second on the all-time list; only Austria’s Gregor Schlierenzauer (53) has more. Kraft already holds the record for most World Cup podiums with 128 and has Nykänen’s mark of four overall World Cup titles in his sights (Kraft currently has three).

Looking ahead, Kraft named two distance records he wants to conquer in ski flying. The official world record now belongs to Domen Prevc, who flew 254.5 m in Planica on 30 March 2025, edging past Kraft’s former 253.5 m benchmark from Vikersund in 2017. There is also the unofficial best mark of 291 m, achieved by Ryoyu Kobayashi at a Red Bull-organized event in Iceland on 24 April 2024. “That’s the dream of every ski jumper,” Kraft smiled.

The article underscores Kraft’s current dominance, his historical milestones, and his ambitions to reclaim or surpass the most prestigious distance marks in ski flying.
