Tschofenig slip delights crowd at Bergisel

For Austria’s team the end-of-competition slide down the opposite slope at Bergisel has become a customary way to say goodbye to the crowd. “It’s almost a tradition,” smiled Daniel Tschofenig — who experienced a little hiccup during this year’s send-off.
“My pants came undone,” he laughed, but he still recommends the sliding: “It’s almost as cool to slide as it is to stand on the podium.” He joked that being fourth once was enough and didn’t mean he’d seek that placing regularly.
The ÖSV jumpers invited the Japanese and Slovenian teams to join them and didn’t have to ask twice. Jan Hörl, who had won in previous years, was mentioned as an example of top finishers who usually skip the slide because they have other commitments after the awards ceremony (Hörl did not take part in the slide in 2024 and 2025). Tschofenig said he appreciated the reaction from the fans: “We can give something back to the fans for coming out.”
