Poland’s Anna Twardosz 21st in Engelberg World Cup; Nozomi Maruyama wins

Anna Twardosz placed 21st in Saturday’s Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup event in Engelberg, Switzerland.
Twardosz jumped 122.5 m in the first round for 16th place, but fell to 21st after landing at 114 m in the final series. Fellow Pole Nicole Konderla‑Juroszek recorded 92 m in the first round and did not qualify for the final, finishing 41st.
Japan’s Nozomi Maruyama won the competition. Slovenia’s Nika Prevc led after the first round with 139.5 m and held a near five‑point advantage over Maruyama, who had jumped three meters less. In the final round, both jumped 134 m, but Maruyama received significantly higher style scores and moved ahead to win by 1.7 points. Norway’s Anna Odine Strøm was third, 7.9 points behind the winner.
In the overall World Cup standings, Maruyama strengthened her lead with 770 points, ahead of Prevc (616) and Strøm (468). Twardosz is 19th with 98 points, and Pola Bełtowska is 37th with 18 points. Maruyama and Strøm have competed in all nine events so far this season, while Prevc has started eight.
