Two-Time World Champion in Ski Jumping Leaves the Team: The Reason Given

Rune Velta, now 35 years old, captured a silver medal at the 2012 World Championships in Vikersund. In 2015, he became a sensation at the World Championships in Falun, where he won four medals—two golds individually on the normal hill and team on the large hill, a silver in the mixed competition, and a bronze individually on the large hill. He retired the following year.
During this year's World Championships in Trondheim, Velta was one of the harshest critics of the Norwegian team, following the discovery of illegal suit manipulation. "I am very disappointed with the actions of my fellow countrymen. The rules are simple and can be adhered to if one truly wants to, and any intentions to break them are absolutely inappropriate," Velta commented on the scandal in Norwegian media.
