Fourth in Klingenthal, Valentin Foubert sets a new personal best in the World Cup

French ski jumper Valentin Foubert continued his breakout start to the season with a career-best 4th place in the large hill World Cup event at Klingenthal, Germany, on Sunday.
After placing 12th on Saturday, the 23-year-old from Courchevel delivered jumps of 140 m and 137 m to climb to the edge of the podium. The competition was won by Slovenia’s Domen Prevc, with Japan’s Ren Nikaido second and Ryoyu Kobayashi third.
Foubert’s 4th surpasses his previous personal best from late November in Ruka, Finland, where he finished 5th—his first top 5 on the World Cup. He followed that performance with two 10th-place finishes in early December at Wisła, Poland. Thanks to this consistency, the Frenchman is now an encouraging 12th in the overall World Cup standings, two months out from the Milan–Cortina Olympic Games.
The World Cup moves next to Engelberg, Switzerland, with competitions scheduled from Friday to Sunday.
