Polish fans finally saw their team back near the top of a Ski Jumping World Cup event in Wisła. After the first round, two Poles were inside the top five. Although Piotr Żyła could not keep his podium position and slipped to seventh, 18‑year‑old Kacper Tomasiak delivered a breakthrough performance, finishing fifth—his first top‑10 in a World Cup event.
FIS’s official Viessmann FIS Ski Jumping World Cup account praised Tomasiak’s fight in front of the home crowd, while Polish analysts underscored the statistical significance. Adam Bucholz (Skijumping.pl) noted it was the first time in 623 days that Poland had two athletes in the World Cup top 10—the previous instance being Planica on March 24, 2024 (Aleksander Zniszczoł 3rd, Piotr Żyła 5th). Bucholz also pointed out that Tomasiak reached his first top‑10 after seven World Cup starts.
Other Polish media voices added context: stats compiler Tomasz Golik highlighted Tomasiak’s rare early‑career streak of consecutive top‑30 finishes; TVP Sport’s Aleksander Roj praised the team’s rebound after a tough Saturday and joked that Tomasiak should keep his "old boots"; and Piotr Majchrzak remarked on the teenager’s nerves easing after signing hundreds of autographs during the weekend.
The Wisła crowd also witnessed an emotional moment: Kamil Stoch made his final jump on this hill, with Eurosport sharing a tribute clip to the three‑time Olympic champion. The overall tone from fans and pundits was optimistic—"something has shifted"—as Poland celebrated having two jumpers back in the World Cup top 10.
